Laser Liposuction

If you have been waiting for a liposuction surgery for some reason, you are a very lucky person. Why? Because FDA recently approved new technology when it comes to fat reduction. The method in question is laser liposuction and it is now an option you can take, beside the traditional liposuction.

What is actually considered under the name of laser liposuction surgery? It is a minimal invasion procedure that will not leave injuries the way traditional one does. With the new method, patients will only have to deal with some bruising. There will be need for incision, but it is quite small, just enough for cannula to be inserted in the patients body. A 1mm incision will then be used for laser tip to heat the fat and break it down. The fat will be melted from the heat of the laser and will then simply be removed from the patient's body. It's quite simple, isn't it?

There will still be some fats left inside, but they can be flushed out with the help of lymphatic system. So there is no danger at all for the patient. Laser liposuction does not use a high intensity laser and this is why you will only need a local anesthetic. It's quite quick and painless cosmetic surgery.

But you should know that not everyone is fit to have a laser liposuction. This type of procedure can not be used on all body parts. It is usable on face, neck and arms. It is some kind of a body sculpting procedure. You should look at it like that, and not like some solution for obesity. You should not think about this cosmetic surgery as a weight loss procedure. Only people who have small fat deposits are candidates for liposuction with laser.

The advantages of this method is that it is less invasive and leaves minimum tissue damage, bruising and pain. A small incision means that patient will need less time to recover and won't need stitches at all. After a day, sometimes two, patient is back on his feet and can continue with life activities.

Another benefit of laser lipo is that the collagen will be produced at higher rate and the skin will tighten. This is a great news for all those people who tend to look worse because their skin lacks elasticity. Laser can be used to tighten the skin and make patient look younger.

With any type of plastic and cosmetic surgery are some disadvantages involved. You are not able to perform this type of liposuction on wider or bigger body areas like thighs and hips. Another thing to keep in mind is that a patient will retain more fat fluid. Yes, the FDA approved this procedure, but we will not know the effects of this cosmetic surgery in long term for some time. It is best to consult with your doctor and cosmetic surgeon before you decide to take laser liposuction.
